Best Cambridge Wedding Photography

Cambridge is one of the greatest cities in the world! I was lucky enough to grow up in Cambridge and for the past ten years I’ve been working as a Cambridge Wedding Photographer and Cambridge Commercial photographer.

I’ve been lucky to photograph many Cambridge weddings. I am continuously striving to create the best Cambridge wedding photography for couples who’re fortunate enough to tie the knot in this beautiful city. In doing so, I have managed to learn lots of tips and tricks that have contributed to some of the best Cambridge wedding photography I’ve produced. And as they say, sharing is caring! So herewith, my top three insider secrets to achieving the best Cambridge wedding photography!

1.  Timing Is Everything!

You may have heard of the term ‘the golden hour’ which is that beautiful moment right before the sun sets for the evening. And that, my friends, is the time in which you can achieve your very best Cambridge wedding photography. The natural light with swirls of colours in the sky creates photos that are simply magical.

Additionally, you want to manage your time super well. You should allow yourself 30-40 minutes for portraits, and 30 or so minutes for group shots.

2.  Location, Location, Location

It’s no secret that the place in which you choose to tie the knot weighs in heavily in terms of the quality of photos you produce. And the times in which I’ve created some of my best Cambridge wedding photography was when I visited  Kings College, Clare College, Trinity College, or St. Catharine’s College. Each of these Universities are a dream when it comes to photography, as they each have stunning gardens that are simply breathtaking during summer and spring. And by making use of any of these venues, you can take advantage of the team who specialise in organising events for the college. I can give you inside knowledge on the best spots, and the ins and outs on how to achieve the best Cambridge wedding photography.

Tip: these gardens are often locked, and thus it may prove beneficial to plan ahead by talking with the college in question and getting access to the porters, as this will most likely help you to gain access.

Additionally, Hotel Du Vin and The Varsity Hotel are both excellent choices when it comes to a reception venue and for bridal prep, and allows all involved in the wedding party to have a special and beautiful place in which to prepare for the special day.

3.  Prepare Every Last Detail

Granted, a wedding is a major event to plan but by choosing a wedding photographer that has lots of experience and knows your location well, will help reduce stress levels on the day. This, in turn, will help you gain the most authentic snaps, leaving you with only the best Cambridge wedding photography. A few things that you may not have considered when it comes to planning:

  • Parking: Central Cambridge often lacks copious amounts of parking space, so try to reserve parking if possible. Also, check to see if there are any street closures in the city on the day of your wedding.
  • Photography Do’s and Don’t’s: Some chapels in the colleges don’t allow photography at all, so it would be wise to talk with the celebrant at your chosen location to find out if we’re permitted to take some of your best Cambridge wedding photography during the ceremony.
